Glenna Ryer was born and raised in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Studying at Tyler School of Art, and Temple University in Rome, she earned a BFA in painting and moved to Brooklyn to pursue costume design at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she received her MFA. Persistent through her background in fine arts and her life as a designer is a curiosity about the meaning of images, and much of her artistic inspiration stems from dreams, memory, and mythology. Today, her designs are driven by an ongoing passion for exploring personal, invented, and shared visual cultures.
